Maxim Gorki (real name Aleksej Maksimovich Пешков) was born on March, 16 (28), 1868 in Nizhny Novgorod. The father of him was a cabinet-maker. In recent year life worked as to the managers a steamship office, died of cholera. A mother took place from family of petty bourgeois. Her father once went about in a barge hauler, but managed to get rich and purchased dyeing establishment. Post mortem husband the mother of Gorki soon again arranged the fate. But lived not long, dying of consumption. A being left an orphan boy was taken away by a grandfather. He taught him to the deed on church books, and a grandmother inoculated love to the folk tales and songs. From 11 a grandfather gave Aleksej "in people", that he made a living. He worked as a baker, "boy" in a shop, by a student in a workshop on writing of icons. Life was very heavy and, in the end Gorki did not survive and ran "on a street".
